10 Unique Tallahassee Wedding Venues That Aren’t Your Typical Ballroom

Planning a wedding in Tallahassee doesn’t mean you have to spend a fortune on a ballroom or traditional wedding venue. Some of the prettiest places around town are gardens, historic properties, parks, barns and community spaces where you can create a wedding that actually feels like you.

Better yet, several Tallahassee venues allow you to bring in your own vendors, choose your own caterer or customize the space — options that can make it much easier to control your wedding budget.

If you’re looking for something a little different, start with these Tallahassee-area wedding venues.

Dorothy B. Oven Park

If you’re dreaming of a garden wedding, this one deserves a look.

Dorothy B. Oven Park is filled with azaleas, camellias, palms and other North Florida plants. The established gardens provide much of the scenery for you, which can also mean you don’t have to go crazy trying to transform a plain room into a beautiful ceremony space.

Location: 3205 Thomasville Road, Tallahassee

Why we like it: Gorgeous natural setting right in town.

Mission San Luis

Want something that looks nothing like a standard hotel wedding?

Mission San Luis gives you the chance to hold your wedding at a National Historic Landmark, with both indoor and outdoor options available.

Important for 2026: Because of construction at the site, Mission San Luis is currently limiting rentals to 100 guests or fewer through January 1, 2027. Check directly with the venue for current availability and restrictions.

Location: 2100 West Tennessee Street, Tallahassee

Why we like it: History, architecture and outdoor space all in one location.

Woman’s Club of Tallahassee

This may be one of the more interesting options for couples trying to keep control of their wedding budget.

Located in historic Los Robles in Midtown, the clubhouse can be rented for weddings, receptions and rehearsal dinners. Most importantly, couples can bring in the caterer, bartender, event planner, photographer and other professionals of their choice.

That flexibility can be a BIG deal when you’re trying to avoid expensive required vendor packages.

Location: 1513 Cristobal Drive, Tallahassee

Why we like it: Lots of flexibility to build your own wedding instead of buying an all-in-one package.

Alfred B. Maclay Gardens

It’s hard to beat Maclay Gardens for a classic Tallahassee backdrop.

Think brick walkways, a reflection pool, historic gardens, azaleas and camellias. The park offers multiple areas for weddings and special events, so you can choose a setting that fits the size and style of your wedding.

And when the gardens are blooming, Mother Nature has already handled quite a bit of the decorating.

Location: 3540 Thomasville Road, Tallahassee

Why we like it: One of the prettiest outdoor wedding settings in Tallahassee.

Goodwood Museum & Gardens

Goodwood gives you another option if you want historic Tallahassee rather than a traditional event hall.

The property sits beneath beautiful live oaks and includes brick terraces and walkways surrounding the Carriage House. Goodwood offers several rental spaces for weddings and other special events.

Location: 1600 Miccosukee Road, Tallahassee

Why we like it: Historic setting + gardens + indoor event space.

Shiloh Farm Chapel & Barn

For a rustic wedding without leaving the Tallahassee area, check out Shiloh Farm.

The 65-acre property includes open fields, large oak trees, a chapel and barn, giving couples several different looks and spaces to work with instead of being locked into one ballroom.

Location: 1500 Benjamin Chaires Road, Tallahassee

Why we like it: You can get the barn, chapel and outdoor-country wedding feel in one property.

The Retreat at Bradley’s Pond

Bradley’s Pond is worth considering if you’d rather build your own event than have every detail dictated by a venue.

The property includes a 5,000-square-foot heated and cooled building plus approximately 1,700 square feet of wraparound porches. Couples can also bring in the licensed caterer, planner, florist, bartender, photographer and other vendors of their choice.

Location: 9002 Bradley Road, Tallahassee

Why we like it: Indoor/outdoor space and vendor flexibility.

DoubleTree Downtown Tallahassee

Not everyone wants to DIY a wedding.

For couples who would rather have a traditional venue — especially if guests are coming from out of town — the DoubleTree downtown offers about 10,500 square feet of event space, multiple meeting rooms and more than 240 guest rooms.

Location: 101 South Adams Street, Tallahassee

Why we like it: Convenient downtown location and lodging in the same place.

University Center Club

For an FSU couple, getting married right on campus is pretty hard to beat.

The University Center Club at Florida State University offers multiple private event spaces for weddings and receptions, including ballrooms and spaces overlooking Bobby Bowden Field.

Location: FSU University Center Building B, Tallahassee

Why we like it: An obvious contender for Seminole couples who want FSU to be part of their wedding story.

Pebble Hill Plantation

Okay, we’re cheating a little with this one — it’s over the state line in Thomasville.

But Pebble Hill Plantation is close enough to Tallahassee to consider if you’re looking for something memorable. The historic property offers several indoor and outdoor areas for weddings, receptions and other private events, including the Main Grounds, Uno Hill Barn, Sugar Hill Barn and Piney Grove Church.

Location: 1251 US Highway 319 S., Thomasville, Georgia

Why we like it: Gorgeous historic grounds that feel like a destination wedding without requiring your Tallahassee guests to travel very far.

How to Save Money on a Tallahassee Wedding Venue

Before automatically choosing the venue with the lowest rental price, compare what you’re actually required to buy.

A venue that lets you choose your own caterer, bartender and other vendors may ultimately cost less than a cheaper room that locks you into expensive packages. Ask about weekday and Sunday weddings, off-season pricing, minimum guest counts, required vendors, alcohol policies, tables and chairs, setup fees, cleanup fees and how many hours are included.

And don’t overlook venues that are already beautiful.

A garden, historic property or oak-filled outdoor space may need far less decorating than an empty ballroom.

Before You Book

Prices, rental policies, capacities and available spaces can change, so contact the venue directly before making plans or putting down a deposit.

And tour more than one. Tallahassee has enough unusual wedding locations that you don’t have to settle for the first ballroom you find.
