If you plan to vote in the November 3, 2026 General Election, now is the time to make sure your voter registration is ready.

The deadline to register to vote in Florida for the General Election is Monday, October 5, 2026. Leon County voters can also use this time to double-check their registration, address, polling place and sample ballot.

Florida Voter Registration Deadline: October 5

If you are not currently registered to vote in Florida, your registration must be completed by October 5 to participate in the November 3 General Election.

Leon County residents have several options:

  • Online: Complete your registration by 11:59 p.m. October 5 at Florida’s official online voter registration website.
  • By mail: Your voter registration application must be postmarked by October 5.
  • In person: Visit the Leon County Supervisor of Elections Office at 2990-1 Apalachee Parkway. The office will remain open until 7 p.m. on October 5 for the registration deadline.

To complete an online registration, you’ll need a Florida driver’s license or Florida ID card and the last four digits of your Social Security number. If you don’t have a Florida driver’s license or ID, the online system can help you create a paper application instead.

Already Registered? Check Your Status Anyway

Even if you’ve voted before, it takes only a minute to check your information.

Leon County’s voter lookup lets you verify your registration and see your Election Day polling place, precinct information and personalized sample ballot. You can also use it to request or check the status of a Vote-by-Mail ballot.

This is especially worth checking if you’ve moved or changed your mailing address since the last election.

On Election Day, November 3, you must vote at your assigned polling place, which you can find using the voter information lookup.

Planning to Vote by Mail?

Florida voters do not need an excuse to vote by mail.

For the November election, the deadline to request that Leon County mail you a Vote-by-Mail ballot is October 22.

Your completed ballot must be received by the Supervisor of Elections by 7 p.m. on Election Day. A postmark by Election Day isn’t enough. Leon County also provides secure ballot intake stations at Early Voting locations during Early Voting hours.

If you vote by mail, don’t forget to sign the certificate on the return envelope. You can also track your ballot to see when it was mailed, received and counted.

What ID Do You Need to Vote in Person?

If you’re voting in person, bring a current and valid physical photo ID. Digital IDs on your phone and photocopies are not accepted.

Accepted IDs include a Florida driver’s license, Florida ID card, U.S. passport, military ID, student ID and several other forms of identification. If your photo ID doesn’t contain your signature, you’ll need an additional accepted ID that does.

One thing that sometimes causes confusion: your voter information card is not an acceptable form of voter ID.

If you don’t have acceptable ID with you, you can still cast a provisional ballot.

Take a Look at Your Sample Ballot Before You Vote

Leon County’s 2026 General Election sample ballots are already available.

Your personalized sample ballot shows the races and questions that will actually appear on your ballot based on your precinct. Leon County says all county voters will also see 11 ballot questions in this election.

Taking a few minutes to look over the ballot ahead of time can make voting much easier — especially with a long list of ballot questions this year.
