Off the Rails – A Hidden Gem in Havana
There are places you go because the food is good, and then there are places you go because you just genuinely like hanging out there. Off the Rails Irish Pub in Havana is both.
We love this place. It’s a little old-school, a little dive-bar-ish, completely laid-back, and the food is ridiculously good. Add pool tables, dart boards, plenty of room for the family, and some seriously good cake, and it’s absolutely worth the short drive from Tallahassee.
First Things First: Get the Reuben
I don’t know what they’re doing to the Reuben at Off the Rails, but it’s ridiculously good. This is one of those sandwiches that makes it very hard for me to try something different when we go back.
They have plenty of other pub food and specials, too, and we’ve had some really good food here. They also do special nights like Prime Rib Thursday, so it’s worth checking what’s happening before you make the drive.

And honestly, that’s one of the reasons we like it so much. The teenage / almost adult kids love it.
Off the Rails is a big, open place with pool tables and dart boards, and it’s just easy to hang out there. We take the kids, order food, play pool and stay awhile. It doesn’t feel like one of those restaurants where everyone is staring at you wondering when you’re going to give up the table.
It’s just a great place to hang out for a while!
Then There’s the “Worst Irish Whiskey and Coke” Sign
One of the things I love about places like this is all the weird stuff you notice once you start looking around — including the “Worst Irish Whiskey and Coke” sign.
This was the very first review they got on Facebook when they opened. If you get it, you get why this is funny. The owner went with it and now they proudly own it!
And Don’t Get Me Started on the Cake
Seriously.
You can go for the Reuben. You can go for the pool tables. You can go for Prime Rib Thursday.
But don’t forget the cake! Their cake is insanely good!
Is Off the Rails Worth the Drive From Tallahassee?
Yep.
Havana isn’t far from Tallahassee, and Off the Rails is exactly the kind of place we love finding around North Florida. It’s not fancy and it isn’t trying to be. It’s a true old-school pub with fantastic food, friendly people, pool tables, darts and enough personality that you remember it after you leave.
Go when you aren’t in a hurry. Get the Reuben. Play a game of pool with the kids.
And for the love of everything, save room for the cake.
